Wellbeing and Safety
Nilai International School is located in a safe and largely crime-free area, among friendly and helpful people. Nevertheless, as is traditional in Malaysia, we have full perimeter fencing, CCTV, and a Security team of 9 working around the clock to ensure the security of all our students, staff and visitors. Transport is provided by well-trained and carefully-supervised school drivers, using properly maintained and inspected vehicles, and our own in-house Catering team cooks healthy, balanced meals which are based on requests of students and staff. The school is thoroughly cleaned and the grounds maintained each day by Nilai Landscape Environmental Services, one of our sister companies. Internet services are filtered and switched off overnight to give Boarders a good night's sleep in readiness for their school day. Relevant questions can be directed to the permanent School Administrator who manages our environment,

All staff are trained and held accountable to UK standards of child supervision, health and safety, and all activities are risk-assessed before being carried out. We have Sick Bays for boys and girls, but standard Malaysian practice is for all illnesses to be treated by a doctor, so it will be normal for children to be taken to one of our many nearby clinics for attention if they are ill. Medical care is professional and inexpensive.
All teachers care for the happiness, wellbeing, emotional and mental health of our children, but in particular, every class receives lessons in Moral, Personal, Social and Relationships Education from UK-trained female teachers, and the Head of Boarding is also a UK-trained female teacher who trains her whole team to care for Boarders as Boarding House Parents.
Security, Rules and Policies
Nilai International School is committed to Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. Please click below for our full set of policies and procedures relating to the safety and wellbeing of your child. Please read these carefully, and ask us questions about them!
Nilai International School is next to Nilai Medical Centre for any serious medical situation, and there are many good doctors in Nilai, at least one of whom is also a Nilai International School parent.
Inclusive Education and Counselling
It is part of being a teacher in the UK to listen kindly and patiently to what children have to say, making time outside of lessons if necessary, or simply asking a child if they are OK during a break or lunch time, then actually listening to the answer.
Ethical, Moral and Religious Education
Malaysia is a society of many faiths and traditions, providing a fertile environment for young people to grow in religious awareness alongside their secular education.
